Oh man, oh man, today is all about powers and their scope.
I know he comes off gruff. I know he’s a bit of a mess. But I hope that at the end of this, I hope we all understand a little bit more of why. One of my favorite behind-the-scenes aspects of this season was working with Michael, who voices Aiden, to land on what Aiden’s voice would sound like in the past. Where some flash backs just mean certain character’s voices should be higher (puberty, my old friend) Aiden’s are a little bit more complicated. His powers are linked so inherently to his voice that we spent a lot of time testing out how Aiden’s voice would have sounded not only as he was younger, but as he was at a different point with his powers. This is one of the first times we see Aiden really experimenting with his powers and discovering them; it’s also one of the only times we see or hear him visibly affected by the amount of alcohol he’s consuming. It was such a good time to work with Michael on this aspect of Aiden’s character, and to really dig into who Aiden was in the past — how soft and untouched he might have been, and how, out of everyone, he was the only person who wasn’t scared of his own powers when they came along.
And then there’s Max. Did she just casually heal Bailey to some degree? Is she the most powerful of all of them? Is it affecting her poorly to use her powers?
Who’s to say?
